Even at her 102nd birthday party Borehamwood pensioner Marjorie Crabb could not be kept from the dancefloor.

Around 70 people attended a party at The Poplars sheltered housing scheme in Grove Road on Friday in honour of Mrs Crabb, who has lived there since 1972.

"I still like to dance, but these days I do more rolling than rocking," she said.

Mrs Crabb took to the stage at the age of five, and was a professional dancer for many years. She was born in West Hampstead, and moved to Borehamwood at the age of 70, 32 years ago.

She was injured in the IRA's bomb attack at Kings Cross railway station in 1971, and spent three weeks recovering in hospital. She was lucky to escape with her life.

In 1984 she married her third husband, John William Crabb, with whom she now shares a flat at The Poplars.

The housing scheme's warden, Wyn Stuart, said everybody had been looking forward to Mrs Crabb's party.

"She's still the life and soul of the party, she's a real character."
