Elliott Star Football Club will start the new season with new first and second team managers.

After five seasons in charge of Star's first team Brian Renphrey has stepped down, with the thanks and best wishes of the whole club.

Due to work commitments Daniel Coleman also resigned after a successful season in charge of Star's reserves team.

The new first team manager is Danny Plumb, who first played for Star 20 years ago.

Danny was playing in the first team last season, but is now looking forward to the challenge of being a manager.

"I am looking to get some younger players down here, I need to get some Borehamwood-based players into the team. I want to do well in the cup, and hopefully challenge for the league," he said.

The assistant manager is Benny Wretham, who held the same post when Star won back-to-back league titles in the mid-1990s.

The new reserve team manager is another former player, Paul Smith, who played alongside Danny in those title-winning sides.

Elliott Star are looking forward to the new season with workbeing carried out to improve the club's Shenley grounds, pitch and facilities.

The club plays in the Herts Senior County Premier Division, and after Boreham Wood FC are the most senior club in the area.

*Elliott Star are looking for new players, who could adapt to playing in a senior league team. Pre-season training starts on July 2, at Pursley Playing Fields in Shenley at 2pm, and after that every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm. People interested in joining the team are invited to come along.
