THE Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations were far from over for Bowmansgreen Primary School who invited almost 300 former staff and pupils to a reunion on Saturday (June 15).

Visitors from all over the country and some from abroad returned to look at the children's work, share memories and search for themselves on a display of photographs from 1952 to the present day.

Headteacher of the school Mrs Sarah Kirkbride said: "We really didn't know how many people would turn up, but the response has been overwhelming.

"It just goes to prove what a special place the school is and how much it means to anyone with any connection to it."

The invited guests including two previous headteachers, under-secretary of state for education Baroness Ashton and the Deputy Mayor Councillor Hazel Ward were treated to a presentation by the children on changes which have taken place in the school over the past 50 years.

A tapestry depicting events over the last five decades and sewn by every current pupil was unveiled by Mrs Ward and three children before the school was also presented with the Hertfordshire Quality Standard for Early Years and Investors in People accreditation.
