THIS picture of a Camp Liberal Club coach party in the 1930's has prompted a response from reader Tony Scott.
He recalls: "We had three outings a year. "They were brilliant usually to Great Yarmouth, or to Newmarket races."
Apparently Hector Stone, who appears on the right of the photograph - I think he is the one holding his coat over his arm - was one of the 1906 founder members.
"He had a factory making military uniforms in Fleetville," said Mr Scott, who is now the club's secretary.
He joined the club himself in 1948.
"I got taken there for an illegal afternoon drink by Jack Walkden - a postman who lived near me in Woodland Drive.
"Ladies weren't allowed to be members they used to be half members. They couldn't vote or go to the bar. We used to have a separate room for them.
"If they wanted a drink they had to get their husbands to buy it for them."
Much more from Mr Scott, including memories of the General Strike, and the Jarrow March passing through St Albans, next week.
