Pervert Peter Delyfer was jailed for two years last week after admitting indecent assaults on French teenage boys in his care during a foreign exchange trip.

Delyfer, 62, of Milton Avenue, Barnet, who had previous convictions for gross indecency, was allowed to act by the Clarks International Home Stays agency as a host family for young students, aged between 12 and 13, during trips to the UK last year, Harrow Crown Court heard on Friday last week.

In one incident, he was travelling with two boys on the Tube and put a coat over his lap and that of a boy sitting next to him.

During the journey, Delyfer put his hand between the boy's legs, despite attempts by the boy to move it away.

The court also heard that Delyfer put his hand on a boy's upper thigh who was sitting next to him during a car trip, and rubbed another boy's thigh while a group of foreign exchange students were staying at his house.

Delyfer was convicted of gross indecency in 1990 after being caught in a public toilet with another man, and secondly in 1998 after he approached strangers in Covent Garden and rubbed himself up against them.

Detective Chief Inspector Cathy Morris, of the Serious Crime Group, said Delyfer was not asked by Clarks International Home Stays to provide records of previous convictions, as current law does not require it.

"I am very pleased he has been imprisoned," DCI Morris said. "I do think he is a danger to vulnerable boys, and this is a severe breach of trust.

"It gives England a bad name," he added.
