A family man from Borehamwood who spent decades striving to make better home movies died last week.

Dennis Edwards, from Stevenage Crescent, died aged 72 on Sunday, December 2, after contracting prostate cancer.

As a founding member of the Borehamwood and District 8mm Cine-Film Club, he captured much of the town's history on film, from the 1960s until the present day.

Last summer a selection of the club's documentaries, about Borehamwood's summer festivals over the years, were screened at the Village Hall in Shenley Road.

Mr Edwards moved to Borehamwood 47 years ago with his wife Daphne, and they settled in the town. They had four children, John, Mary, Christine and Robert, and later four grandchildren, Richard, Ben, Simon and Dudley. Mrs Edwards said her husband had been proud of his family, and was determined to stay active and fun throughout his life.

Mr Edwards' funeral was due to be held at Garston Crematorium today, Thursday. His family has asked that instead of flowers, well-wishers make a donation to the Prostate Cancer Charity.

To send a donation via post write to: The Prostate Cancer Charity, 3 Angel Walk, Hammersmith, London W6 9HX. To make a donation via the internet visit www.prostate-cancer.org.uk.
