Changes to the borough council's grants scheme for householders wishing to carry out home improvements were agreed at a meeting last week. Previously only people over the age of 60 who were receiving income benefits could qualify for a grant of up to £5,000 , but now the council will consider applications from people who do not meet this criteria. Priority will still be given to senior citizens who receive benefit.
