Hawks first team made amends for lasts season's defeat by Royston, beating them at home 4-1.

Matches were won by Cliff Madden, Chris Turton, Lee Prosser and Eric Armstrong.

Surprisingly, Mick Hynes suffered a rare defeat against a very talented player, but assured everyone at the club he would gain revenge in the rematch.

Chris Turton won his first two games easily, and was cruising to a 3-0 victory, when he seemed to change his strategy. His opponent clawed his way back into the match, frustrating Chris, and the Hawks supporters, in the process.

He eventually got his game back on track, with some very useful cross court drops, and won through 3-1.

Cliff Madden was as reliable and consistent as ever, beating his opponent 3-1. Cliff has paid a lot of attention to his upper body strength this year, and the increased power has certainly helped him achieve a better length.

Lee Prosser had an easy victory, but nevertheless it was nice to see him win, and smile again, as this half he has battled to regain his high standards of previous years.

Even though he was not really tested, Lee was enthused for the game, and moved about court with a determined purpose, winning 3-0.

Eric Armstrong's commitment paid off, as he beat a useful number four 3-1. His opponent was an experienced campaigner who had a large array of shots, but Eric just kept running and retrieving, and gradually wore him down.

Hawks have strengthened and will be pushing once again for promotion, come the end of the season.
