Star clawed a draw in a game they should have won away to St Peter's on Saturday.

Star stared brightly, with Cooper running up the right wing and playing a one-two with Bell. He took the return and put the ball on Lennon's head at the back post, but it went sailing over the bar.

Minutes later Day broke from the back and hit a 30-yard pass which found Cooper beating the offside trap, but his shot from 20 yards hit the post and bounced out of play.

St Peter's were doing plenty of attacking, without making Davis in the Star goal get his knees muddy. They were getting opportunities, but were unable to convert them.

Bell, who gets better every game, set Taylor up and he put his shot into the St Peter's keeper's hands. Minutes before the break Jones hit a shot, and the St Peter's centre half sliced the ball. It fell to Bell who scored the opener for Star.

Plumb replaced Love after the break. St Peter's must have got a roasting from their manager, because from the restart they pressed forward but Star's defence held the line.

That was the pattern for 20 minutes, until St Peter's scored from what was a hotly disputed offside decision.

The goal galvanised Star and they went forward in droves, bombing St Peters from all angles. With minutes left Cooper went down like a sack of coal in the box, and the referee pointed to the spot.

Big Phil Reed walked up like John Wayne in a shoot out, and hit the ball over the public bar, which was a mile down the road.

Star came away with a point, but showed that they are once again playing as a team, and slowly rising up the league table.
