Barnet Saracens Elizabethans 15 Ruislip 6

London League 3 North-West

Barnet Saracens Elizabethans were far superior to Ruislip and deservedly leapfrogged them into fourth place.

Ruislip were poor but this was due to Barnet's forward power.

The front row, Willy Pritchard, Nick Tinson and Miguel Gomez, were the key to Barnet's domination.

While Tinson claimed five scrums against the head, his two props contributed to the pressure on Ruislip's front three.

In the loose play, Pritchard and Gomez excelled, forming the basis for Barnet's control.

Barnet went ahead when Lee Gray drove through the forwards to score a try and good handling released David Lewis to touch down.

Though Ruislip replied with a penalty, narrowing the gap to 10-3 at half-time before adding another, they never really threatened.

The backs set up Peter Moulton for Barnet's third try.

Hendon 21 Northolt 7

Herts Middlesex League Division Three

Hendon, narrowly beaten by Northolt in the National Junior Cup, gained handsome revenge on Saturday and retained second spot.

Their forwards had been driven backwards all season but training with a new scrummage machine appeared to have done the trick.

Facing a very heavy pack, the forwards applied strong pressure, allowing hooker Holmes to take several against the head.

Scrum half John Diviney took clean ball to his threequarters, who made charging runs as Hendon dominated the second half.

Hendon were ahead 8-7 at half-time, through Andrew Brown's try and penalty.

In the second half, Steve Armstrong struck with a try and a drop goal, before Kreten added a try.

Mill Hill 0 Lensbury 11

Herts Middlesex League Division One

Mill Hill put up a very courageous performance against second-placed Lensbury on Saturday.

Lensbury put the home side under immediate pressure with their big forwards. All their points came in the first 30 minutes.

Mill Hill's front row of Bourke, Brown and Bearne was very solid in the scrum and with Coltrini outstanding in the lineout, the backs received plenty of the ball, but could not capitalise.

The second half was played mostly in Mill Hill's half. They resisted bravely and almost scored a consolation try.
