A NEW coach service from Watford to central London has been set up in response to July's terrorist bombs.

It aims to give passengers an alternative to travelling by train in the wake of the attacks which left more than 50 people dead.

Coach company Mullany's has established the 775 service - which comes into operation next month - because it wants to give commuters a "safer and more comfortable" journey into the city.

Kevin Crawford, managing director of Mullany's, said: "We want to give people an alternative to the Silverlink service which runs into Euston.

"From there, many people would have to jump on a tube, but because of the security scares recently, some people don't want to.

"With our bus, people don't have to change, they can stay on the bus all the way to their stop.

"They will travel everyday in more familiar surroundings and each seat will have a seatbelt, making the journey safer and more comfortable."

Commuters will be able to buy weekly, monthly or annual passes which will come at a competitive price.

Journeys will start from Watford Junction at 7am, and call at Euston, Chancery Lane and Newgate Street among others.

In the evenings, the bus leaves Finsbury Square just after 5pm and returns to Watford for 6.45pm.

Mr Crawford said: "We think people are going to value this alternative - it has never been done in Watford before."
