THE election for a new borough councillor for Nascot ward will be delayed, following the death of Labour Party candidate Tom Meldrum.
Under electoral law, the election will now take place at a later date.
Nascot ward electors will still be able to cast their votes for the Watford Mayoral election on Thursday, May 4.
The borough council elections for all other wards in Watford will also still take place on Thursday, May 4.
Mr Meldrum, who was an active member of the community, died yesterday (Wednesday). He was 85.
He was involved with many community groups and was chair of the South West Hertfordshire Senior Citizens Alliance.
Mr Meldrum, who lived in Essex Road, Watford, is survived by three sons.
His funeral will be held at noon on Friday, April 28, at West Herts Crematorium.
