Shocking CCTV images of a young woman being punched in the face after asking a man to be quiet, have prompted a local businessman to offer a £1,000 reward.

Video footage and still-images of the 27-year-old dancer being attacked by an unknown man at Carpenders Park station, have since appeared on the national news, both online and on television.

The man pictured was wearing what police believe to be a distinctive yellow football t-shirt, possibly from the 2006 play-offs involving Watford FC.

This week, a local businessman offered a £1,000 reward in exchange for information leading to a conviction after he saw the footage.

The man, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “I cannot get out of my head the pictures of the victim stumbling about after the attack clearly not knowing what had hit her.

“My immediate emotion after seeing what happened to this girl was anger. I was angry that this man felt he could launch an assault in broad daylight against a young girl without a second thought.

“The man responsible needs to be caught and punished to the full extent of the law. The photograph of the suspect is very clear and someone must recognise him.”

British Transport Police said the woman was attacked at about 3.50pm on Sunday June 27, after asking a that man to stop tapping a beer bottle against a bench at Harrow & Wealdstone Station.

She suffered severe facial bruising and required an operation to repair her nose.

Investigating officer detective constable Tony Gittins said he and the victim were extremely grateful for the reward.

He added: “Following the initial appeal for information many people were shocked by what happened during the assault.

“We have had a lot of calls from members of the public offering information as to the identity of the suspect, however, as yet our enquiries as to his identity are ongoing.

“I would strongly urge anyone who knows the man, perhaps even the man himself, to get in touch with us.”
