With the Hornets making a great start to the Npower Championship, a few thoughts are coming into my mind about Watford’s starting eleven.

Malky Mackay has brought in three new players in August so far. Troy Deeney, Jordon Mutch and Josh Walker have all linked up with the young Watford squad. In all three league matches this season Mackay has stuck with the same line up, however with the new signings in place surely Malky has to try them out in action. In my opinion, I think that Deeney could bang in the goals for Watford and think that he should be given a start ahead of Marvin Sordell. This would be harsh on the youngster as he has made a tremendous start, but I just think Deeney will bring more goals for the Hornets. Having said this I still believe that Marvin can play a big part in Watford’s season as he is improving match by match under McKay’s guidance.

We haven’t seen much of Mutch or Walker yet, so I can’t really comment on them, although they do look to be exciting players. Will Buckley has really impressed me with his dribbling and crossing in these opening games and he looks set to play on the wing this season. Stephen McGinn has stepped up to the plate aswell. But the real backbone of the team so far has to be John Eustace. The new skipper has not only put in some excellent performances at the heart of the team but has scored two goals already. Eustace’s cracking goal against Coventry also shows that he holds quality along with his hard tackles and never die attitude.

Danny Graham also deserves a special mention because he has led the attack so far with four goals in total. Graham has grown as a player in my view because his finishing has improved and he seems much more intelligent with the ball. So hopefully Mackay changes it around a bit for tomorrows Carling Cup game with Notts County to give some of the new players a run out.

Bring on the County!
