A promising footballer has been jailed for four months after drunkenly attacking a taxi driver in Watford town centre.

Ryan Crowther kicked and punched Syed Shah after drinking about 20 shots of vodka on a night out on August 9 last year.

Police were forced to pull Crowther, now 21, off the driver and use pepper spray on him after he flew into a rage following a row with his girlfriend.

He was found guilty of actual bodily harm earlier this month and sentenced last Friday.

The former Liverpool FC player left the club shortly after the incident.
