Tree works carried out on behalf of Abbots Langley Parish Council are under investigation, according to Three Rivers District Council.

During the summer months, a number of trees were cut back and trimmed in Roman Gardens, Manor House Grounds and Langleybury.

Three Rivers District Council has now revealed that it is investigating the quality of the works carried out by contractors employed by the parish council.

Ryan Watson, council spokesman, said: “We do have concerns about the quality of the work, and have written to the parish accordingly requesting more information on the contractor responsible.”

Despite asking both the district council and the parish council as to what is about the work that has caused the investigation, both parties have repeatedly refused to comment.

They have both also refused to confirm whether it is all the tree works carried out in Roman Gardens, Manor House Grounds and Langleybury that are being looked at - or elsewhere.

Mr Watson stressed that the district council would not be taking legal action against the parish council, but said: “We could take action against the contractor responsible as it would appear that the works were not undertaken in accordance with good practice.”

Tim Perkins, parish council clerk, said: “We will not be commenting on this.

“Tree works were carried out, but as far we are concerned it was in accordance with Three Rivers District Council’s policies.”

Mr Perkins further refused to name the contractor and how much the works cost.
