The elected mayor of Watford struck a chord with young musicians when she opened a new music school in the town.
Dorothy Thornhill tried her hand at electric guitar at the official opening of Music Gym, based at the YMCA Orbital Community Centre in Haines Way, yesterday afternoon.
The new school, which has been set up by music store Something Guitar, will offer electric guitar lessons in a studio.
Bernie Harewood, the YMCA centre manager, said: “We are delighted to support the development of the Yamaha Music Point in the centre. This is an innovative and exciting new project, which embraces local people of all ages and cultures.”
To celebrate its official opening, the new school will be offering free taster sessions at an open day on February 14.
