Royal picnic

The Friends of Bushey Museum are also holding a Diamond Jubilee Evening Picnic at Reveley Lodge, Elstree Road, Bushey Heath on Sunday, June 10 from 5pm-8pm. Bring the family and have a picnic in these gardens to celebrate the planting of a commemorative Queen’s Jubilee tree.

Corgis and other dogs

Patchetts Green Equestrian Centre is giving a Queen’s Jubilee slant to this year’s Radlett & Aldenham Country Fair. There will be pony and ox cart rides, a marque tent, dog show, fun fair stalls and rides, refreshments, bands, children’s games and prizes. The show takes place at Patchetts Green Equestrian Centre, Patchetts Green, Aldenham on Sunday, June 3 from noon.

Light up the beacon

As one of the Official Queen’s Jubilee Beacon Sites, the charming village of Chenies is pumping up the pageantry with its Village Day Celebrations on June 4 from 10am until late. There will be a children’s funfair and fete, traction engines, classic cars, music and dancing, local producers and the Army Rifles Regiment Paint Ball Range. There’s a cricket match between the Lashings World XI Cricket Team and a local side featuring Neil Dudgeon (DCI Barnaby) and Jason Hughes (DS Jones) from Midsomer Murders, plus an RAF Battle of Britain Flight Flypast, 22 Squadron Air Sea Rescue Flypast and the British Army Minden Band. The evening Beacon Party will be held at Chenies and Latimer Cricket Club with music from Cool Beans before the 10.26pm lighting of the beacon. Chenies Manor will also be open during the day for the British Driving Society Chenies Carriage & Driving Day from 10am-4pm. There will also be vintage tractors on show and free tractor trailer rides for children, plus two mazes to explore.

Swing with Blitz hits

For an evening of right royal nostalgia, swing along to Hits from the Blitz at The Radlett Centre. The special Jubilee show features songs from the 1940s performed by local favourites Five Star Swing and there’s plenty of scope for audience participation.

Royal music

Sanctuary Studios celebrates The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a showcase of live music and demonstrations from Harmony, Eva & Ben, Dubbledge, Hayaam Belly Dance, Nikisha, Shianti, The Apostates, DEF Digby, Pheonix Down, The Jim Dolan Project and Late Day Breakers, plus music workshops for children and adults, children’s entertainment, barbecue and craft stalls.

Jubilee party

Party food is on the menu at St John’s Church, so grab a cuppa and join in the Children’s Tea Party and Afternoon Cream Tea with traditional games, refreshments and crafts for children and relaxing cream teas for the rest of the family. Children will be supervised by the leaders of the St Johns Young Church. Stay around for The Proms of Praise – the church’s special Diamond Jubilee version of the Last Night of the Proms with a rousing 40-minute sing-a-long led by Watford Brass Band.

Crowning glory

Children are invited to join in on a week-long Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Arts and Craft Workshop at The Harlequin Shopping Centre and help Agent H guard the crown jewels in the centre while the Queen celebrates! Young visitors can also create and decorate their own royal crowns with glitter, jewels and holographic stickers and decorate Union Jack flags.
