A self-taught paper cutting artist is currently featuring at the Artistsmeet gallery in Rickmansworth.
The summer exhibition, which will run until 31 August, features the exclusive works of Suzy Taylor.
Suzy took up the art of paper cutting four years ago and has since created many unique and intricate art works all cut from a single piece of paper using just a cutting mat and craft knife.
Having tried a number of different art mediums to some success, Suzy came to paper cutting in 2008 and immediately felt she had found her niche. Inspired initially by American folk artists Suzy also draws inspiration from modern paper cutting artists, all who have very different styles, but it was the possibilities that arose from working simply with a piece of paper and a craft knife that she finds so appealing.
Melanie Boda, Community Arts Development Officer at Three Rivers District Council said: “These works of art are unique and the amount of work that goes into each piece is phenomenal. You really need to visit the exhibition to truly appreciate the skill and patience used to craft each work and see it for yourself.”
Suzy will also be appearing in the gallery to demonstrate how she creates her artworks during the exhibition period.
