Sarratt Afternoon Women's Institute were given a talk about shoplifting from a former Metropolitan Police superintendent.

David Wass, who worked as security chief for Fenwick’s at Brent Cross after his police career, explained just how much is stolen by thieves from large shops.

He also told the groups about some of the tactics that shoplifters use, including the use of everyday items such as rubber bands, umbrellas or pleated skirts to carry out their crimes.

The WI visited Bourton on the Water, in the the Cotswolds on July 11, and spent some time browsing the various shops and cafes. A coffee morning, held in June, raised £500 for Alzheimer’s Research.
