Rickmansworth residents are hoping to set up a "neighbourhood forum" which will give them more of a say in the use of land in their area.
Three Rivers District Council received an application from residents in Rickmansworth to be designated as the Rickmansworth Neighbourhood Forum.
The forum will be able to produce a "Neighbourhood Plan", which will set general planning policies for the development and use of land.
A consultation on the scheme will run for a period of six weeks between August 3 and September 14.
