A group of six friends who will cycle the length of Great Britain to raise money for charity are looking for an all-important seventh member - a support driver.

The group of 38 to 42-year-olds from Croxley Green, Rickmansworth, Ruislip and Northampton, will ride 100 miles a day from Land's End to John O' Groats in September.

They are aiming to raise money for research into neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer which has affected the son of one of the group's friends.

However, despite the months of training and preparation, the cyclists are missing a driver to follow them.

Edward Sylvester, 38, from Rickmansworth, said: "We have all the accommodation booked for the trip, but we are just lacking someone to drive the support vehicle.

"This represents a great opportunity for one or two people to drive the length of the country effectively for free - all accommodation, petrol and food paid for.

"In return we ask that they be on hand for support if we need it, the odd trip to a bike shop, helping load gear, and meeting the riders at regular stops en route.

"If anyone has a minibus they could lend us even better. "

The event takes place from September 14 to 24, and the support crew needs to be aged 25 and over for insurance purposes.

Mr Sylvester, 38, added: "We are raising money for the Neuroblastoma Society - this was first brought to our attention through Ben Sharp who a couple of us know from our days at Batchworth Sea Scouts.

"His son, Alex Sharp, is four years old and suffers from the aggressive form of childhood cancer. This ride aims to raise awareness and of course much needed research money."

As well as Mr Sylvester, the other riders are James Sylvester 41 from Croxley Green, John Fennell, 40 from Ruislip, Richard Patterson, 40 from Rickmansworth, Ian Smithson 42 from Croxley Green, and Jolyon Canlon, 38 from Northampton.
