A pile of burning waste was left in a South Oxhey field by fly-tippers last night.
Police were called to Little Oxhey Lane where tree cuttings and other waste had been dumped and set alight.
The field, opposite the Carpenders Park Garden Centre, is occupied by horses and police said the RSPCA has been contacted to assess the animals’ welfare.
Luke Mitchell, South Oxhey safer neighbourhoods sergeant, said there had been several recent incidents of fly-tipping on the road and urged anyone witnessing suspicious vehicles to contact 101.
