Police are trying to track down a dog walker who may have seen suspected burglars making their getaway in Abbots Langley.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said on Tuesday, there was a burglary and attempted burglary in the village.
The first incident happened in Balmoral Road between 9.15am and 3.30pm where suspects gained entry to a house through an open window and removed items including a laptop, jewellery, a phone and a video camera.
Then at around 1.30pm, a window was smashed at a property in Heather Close, but the would-be intruder failed to get in
PC Joanna Price said: "I am investigating incidents in Balmoral Road and Heather Close and I believe a female dog walker may have seen the three male suspects. One was on a bike making off over Leavesden Country Park behind Heather Close at around 1.45pm.
"If you were out walking your dog at this time, please contact me as I believe you may have vital information as part of my investigations.
"As well as appeals to trace the dog walker, I would also like to appeal to anyone who was in Abbots Langley on that day and who believes they saw the three suspects, who were using a bike between them, to contact police."
Anyone with information about the incident should contact PC Price via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number C2/12/2229 or C2/12/2231.
Alternatively Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
