Troy Deeney has confirmed his representatives are in talks with Watford over a new contract.
The striker's current deal expires in the summer and the 24-year-old has received criticism on micro blogging site Twitter from some fans.
The Watford Observer reported on Friday talks between Deeney and the club had started and the former Aston Villa trainee confirmed that was the case this afternoon.
Deeney tweeted: "For those that have been asking about the contract situation, my representatives and Watford are talking. Hope that puts to bed any rumours."
Deeney has scored ten goals in 21 appearances for Watford since his return to the team in September following his two-and-a-half month prison sentence for affray.
