Division Two

Bushey Olympians achieved a first win of the season with a shock 1-0 victory over Colne Valley Reserves.

The Olympians, who are playing in their first competitive season, had until Sunday lost every league game they had played, conceding 79 goals in the process.

The football gods seemed to be on Bushey’s side from the start when Valley had what looked like a perfectly good goal ruled off for offside early on.

They dominated most of the first half, hitting the inside of the post, although Bushey also missed a good chance from Gregg Anscombe.

Five minutes into the second half, Bushey scored what was only their second league goal of the campaign when a long through ball caught out the Valley defence to put Aaron Lowe clear to score and he fired underneath keeper Jamie Scales.

From that point, it was almost one-way traffic towards the Bushey goal which led a charmed life.

Valley threw everything they had forward and somehow missed several excellent chances as their opponents held on for their first three points.

Both other games in the division ended in 6-1 home wins.

Evergreen Olympians are back on the summit after their victory over Roundbush thanks to goals from Martin Tebbs, Steve Stratford, Stuart Stratford, Jordan Jones, Dan Jones and an own goal.

The Bush reply came from a Ben Lelyveld penalty in the second half.

Darren O’Brien struck a hat-trick for Cassiobury Revolution as they overcame Ebury Olympians, with the other goals coming from Peter Sarner-Taylor, Gary Mundy and Callum Hearn.

Michael Gillman scored the Ebury goal.

Ken Simmons Memorial Cup Group B

Oxhey Park booked a place in the semi-final with a 7-2 win over Brookside.

Goals either side of half-time from Michael Lambert and Rob Blennerhassett put Park in control but their opponents then pulled level thanks to two goals in three minutes from Matt Gee and Johnny Armitt.

However, Michael Lambert restored the Oxhey lead four minutes later and then three goals in five minutes from Shane Flynn put the game beyond Brookside. Blennerhassett completed the scoring five minutes from time.

Premier Division

Tudor Arms defeated Colne Valley by the odd goal in seven.

Gary Mumford put Valley ahead, Jack Robertson equalised with a deflected free-kick but Tom Seamons the restored Colne advantage from the penalty spot.

However, Lee Taylor and Jack Robertson fired Arms in front and Robertson then completed his hat-trick in the second half before Valley pulled a goal from Andy Burton.

President’s Cup Group A

Cassiobury Rangers ended their President’s Cup campaign on a high with a 5-2 win over Kings Langley.

Joe Mortimer was the star man as he scored all his sides’ five goals, with James Herd and Niall Houghton replying.

President’s Cup Group B

Headstone Athletic came back from two goals down in the first half to beat Old Danes Athletic 9-3.

Will McCann, Rob Rossister and Mark Shanahan scored for Old Danes.

Headstone’s goals came through a Tom O’Malley hat-trick, a brace from Anthony Ball and singles from Harry Healey, Shiva Kurup, Dan Page and Chris Gough.

To reach the semi-finals now, Old Danes have to beat both Woodside and Headstone again.

Division One

Aquis had a straightforward 5-0 home win over ten-man FC Aps.

Murray Duff struck a hat-trick, supported by a double from Kaveh Fatemian.

Chairman’s Cup Group B

Both games in the group ended in 2-2 draws.

Inter are in the strongest position in a tight group, needing just a point from their final game with Watford Labour Club to progress after taking a point from Headstone Lions.

Lewis Cole scored twice, the second being a late equaliser which could prove vital.

The points shared between Watford Labour and WD Athletic helped neither in terms of qualification but because the group is so tight, it could turn out to be important.

Chris Walsh gave Labour an early lead before WD took a 2-1 advantage thanks to goals from Kasun Jayasinghe.

Mark Bedford equalised for Labour at the start of the second half and that was how it ended.
