Watford have released their shirt numbers for the season and once again it is intriguing to see what numbers remain when trying to predict the club's future transfer plans.

With left wing back Jaime Romero's future in doubt, it is no surprise that the number three is currently vacant and with Gianfranco Zola confirming he is looking for a third goalkeeper, so is 13.

The number five is usually reserved for a centre half; new Udinese signing Essaïd Belkalem perhaps? The Algerian is heading to Vicarage Road according to the Italian club's sporting director Cristiano Giaretta.

We understand Watford were keen to sign all the foreign players permanently as they want to leave their loan allocation for domestic players. The numbers 14, 17 and 29 are still up for grabs.

It also confirms that Ross Jenkins and Adam Thompson are not part of the club's plans moving forward; which was already evident after they were left at home when the club went on their pre-season training camp to Italy.
