Watford mixed martial arts fighter Dan Bowie clinched the WBC British Thai Boxing title in front of more than 1,000 fans at the Smash Muay Thai 6 show at Watford Colosseum on Saturday.

Bowie, from Holywell, was in control of his fight against Richie Green from the first round.

Choosing his shots well, Bowie dropped his experienced and dangerous opponent with a body shot and the referee gave him an eight count.

The height difference between the two fighters didn’t faze Bowie and he won the second and third round.

The fight had to be stopped in the fourth as Green was unable to continue and Bowie was awarded the national title.
