Beppe Sannino is looking for Almen Abdi to continue to build up his confidence and fitness over the remainder of this campaign so that he is “ready to start fresh next season”.
The midfielder made his second comeback of the season following his long-term foot injury in last week’s 4-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday and that continued yesterday when he replaced the injured Cristian Battocchio shortly before half-time in the draw against Burnley.
“Abdi needs minutes,” said the Hornets head coach. “Today he had 45 minutes, 50 minutes. It is good but he needs to come back step by step. He’s coming back from a long-term injury. What I’m expecting from him is he builds up his confidence, his fitness and ready to start fresh next season.”
