Hemel Hempstead were beaten by one wicket in an entertaining contest against reigning Chess Valley League Division One champions Eastcote on Sunday.
Hemel batted first and slipped to 101 for six after 22 overs. However, Jay O’Nien (63) and Brad Finch (74) led the fight back and put on 133 for the seventh wicket.
Their contributions helped Hemel post a final total of 271 for nine from their 45 overs.
Finch then impressed with the ball. He claimed three for 38 with Gareth James snaring three batsmen for 50 runs.
However, Eastcote were stubborn and managed to keep their final wicket and seal victory after scoring 12 runs in the final three overs.
