Cappielow Park, Greenock was the venue for Watford's first ever game north of the boder.
Home side Morton, promoted to the Scottish Premier League as champions of the first division the previous season, gave Watford goalkeeper Andy Rankin a busy afternoon, recording a 5-1 victory.
Watford's first victory in Scotland came at Clydebank three days later.
