Watford travelled to Coventry to face the third division leaders at Highfield Road.
With the home side leading 2-0 late in the game, Watford pulled one back when winger George Harris attacked a deep cross with traditional relish to head in at the far post.
The same move yielded an equaliser minutes later, and Harris was only denied a hat-trick of identical goals by a keeper's parry in the next attack. The game finished 2-2.
