The Hornets would ideally like to sign two midfielders and a centre back during the January transfer window, the Watford Observer understands.
The return of defender Sebastien Bassong and midfielder Adlene Guedioura to Norwich City and Crystal Palace respectively have left two voids in the squad which need filling.
And with centre midfielders Keith Andrews and Lewis McGugan being told they can find other clubs and no longer train with the first team, it leaves another gap in the Golden Boys' match-day squad.
The three potential signings would be in addition to the pending arrival of Serbian defender Vujadin Savic, who we understand has agreed a deal until the end of the season, as reported last week.
