Norwich City manager Alex Neil believes his side and the Hornets are among six teams who could finish top of the Championship this season.

The Canaries’ 3-0 win on Saturday saw Neil’s men leapfrog opponents Watford into fifth place and now both clubs are within four points of the automatic promotion spots and six below league-leaders Derby County.

Neil said: “It is extremely tight at the top and any team in the top six could go on a run and probably win the league.

“Nobody has taken it by the scruff of the neck and we are in as good a form as anyone in the league so there is no reason why we can’t continue the good run we are on at the moment.”

Norwich were ten points away from the automatic promotion places when Neil replaced Neil Adams on January 9 but he has since won six of his eight matches in charge.

Neil added: “We are just enjoying our football and there is a long way to go. If we lose in the week and the other teams win then we are something like seven points adrift again and it would make it more difficult.

“The fact we were chasing our tail a bit when I came in means every game is really important because you can’t afford to lose ground so thankfully we have won a few games back-to-back and it is important we continue to do that.”
