JOHN ALDRIDGE, linked with the Bradford City job in some quarters, brushed aside the press speculation to savour the success which knocked Watford off the top spot.

He said: "This was a big result for us. We can beat any team at home but now we have to start grinding out results away from home.

"I thought we thoroughly deserved the win even if we had to weather a second half spell when they put some pressure on.

"The first goal was good for Clint Hill, who took the gamble that Gareth Roberts would win the header and it paid off.

"The second goal was something we do all the time in training. We never sat back and panicked."
