Readers Herts 20/20 Cup
Hemel Hempstead Town missed out on the quarter-finals of the competition despite easing to a seven-wicket win over Chorleywood in their final group game on Sunday.
Defeats in their opening matches against North Mymms and Letchworth ended any hope of progress but Hemel scuppered Chorleywood’s own prospects with a convincing win at Heath Park.
Chorleywood only had ten men and Hemel were able to bowl them out for just 111 in the 18th over. Brett Penny was the pick of the bowlers, taking four for 13 in 17 balls, while Richard Morton returned figures of two for nine.
Penny led Hemel during their innings as he scored 53 not out in just 55 balls. Hemish Ilangaratne made 19 and Ali Leighton finished on 23 not out.
The side cruised to the target for the loss of three wickets after 19 overs to end their campaign with a win.
