Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores says he brought off Etienne Capoue against Bournemouth as the Frenchman “wasn’t clear in his mind” due to tiredness.
The midfielder had played all but 58 minutes of Watford’s Premier League matches prior to this afternoon’s contest with the Cherries.
He started against Eddie Howe’s side at Vicarage Road but was substituted after 57 minutes. The game ended 0-0.
Flores was asked after the game if Capoue, bearing in mind the Hornets take on Manchester United on Wednesday, had been replaced due to injury.
Watford’s head coach replied: “Capoue is a very important player for us but he has played nearly every minute.
"I felt he was a little bit tired. He wasn’t clear in his mind and wasn’t choosing (the right options) well.
“It isn’t normal for Capoue but it’s possible (he was tired) Tomorrow we will talk with him but I have no worries about him.”
