Radlett Cricket Club will play host to one of Wisden’s top five cricketers of the year when Brendon McCullum makes his Middlesex 50-over debut on June 7.

McCullum will join up with his teammates after his IPL commitments in time to make his Royal London One-Day Cup debut against Hampshire.

The former New Zealand captain agreed in December to join Middlesex for the limited over competitions where he is expected to play seven Natwest T20 Blast fixtures and four Royal London One-Day Cup games.

McCullum earned himself a reputation as a power hitter with his ability to take games away from the opposition with his superb shot selection and bruising power and his quick scoring will be perfect for Middlesex in the search for success in the short formats.

The Kiwi scored 14,000 runs over the course of 99 Tests, 254 One Day Internationals and 71 T20 internationals for New Zealand before announcing his international retirement at the end of 2015.

He arrives with a real pedigree for the short formats of the sport with high scores of 170 and 158 in the domestic List A and T20 formats respectively.

It won't be McCullum's first appearance in the English game having turned out for the Birmingham Bears in the T20 competition last season when he obliterated the record books with an unbeaten 158, the highest score in the English domestic competition.
