The Football Association are being held up in a decision over whether to investigate Watford captain Troy Deeney's incident with Joe Allen on Saturday while they await referee Michael Oliver's match report.
Oliver booked both players for their part in the scuffle at the end of the defeeat to Stoke City, the second incident of handbags in as many minutes following Abdoulaye Doucoure and Mame Diouf's just beforehand.
A spokesman for the FA said Oliver's explanation of the situation would determine whether further action is considered, as if he saw the full incident at the time and acted upon it, nothing more will follow.
Referees' match reports are normally submitted early on Monday mornings for Saturday games - and so a decision will likely be made by the end of the day.
