Watford may have made a good start to the season, but Javi Gracia’s approach remains the same – not looking beyond Watford’s next game.

Yesterday’s 3-1 victory at Burnley ensured the Hornets kicked off the campaign with back-to-back victories, a feat that has only been achieved once before in the club’s top-flight history in the 1982/83 campaign.

The manner of yesterday’s success following the 2-0 opening-day win against Brighton & Hove Albion – and the quality of the goals Watford scored – is very encouraging.

While Gracia is aware fortunes can very quickly change, he is confident his players believe in what they are doing on the pitch.

The Hornets head coach said: “I think we did a very good job in pre-season and today we can enjoy the good result, but it’s true, it’s only the beginning. It can change one day and you are not able to win but it’s important to keep calm, to create the rules to create a style and to be confident in your style of play. In this moment I think the players believe in these situations.”

Asked if he was excited about what he’d witnessed, Gracia responded: “I’m happy because today we have got a good result but we are thinking of the next game.”
