The Made in Denmark leaderboard has a strong Moor Park Golf Club flavour to it currently after Matt Wallace and Callum Shinkwin both made upward progress towards the top in the second round.

Wallace carded his second successive 68 to move to eight-under-par and up to fifth place at the time of writing, five behind leader Christiaan Bezuidenhout, while Shinkwin is only one shot further back after a six-under-par 66 saw him climb to seven-under.

With the European Ryder Cup team to be named next week, a strong showing in Aarhus would see Wallace strengthen his case for a wildcard selection, but his second round was something of a rollercoaster.

Starting at the 10th, the 28-year-old started disappointingly with back-to-back bogeys at 12 and 13, only to instantly retrieve those two shots with an eagle three at 14.

A birdie three at 16 followed, but it was on the front nine where his round took off, only for some of his good to be undone at the end.

This year’s two-time European Tour winner holed out for a two at the third for his second eagle of the day and then reeled off three consecutive birdies from the fifth to the seventh to race to 10-under. But he then slipped back to eight-under following a six-five finish.

Shinkwin’s 66 is one of the best rounds so far today and after opening with a couple of pars, he was quickly in the scoring groove with a three at the 12th followed by three straight birdies from 14 to 16 to go ‘out’ in a four-under-par 32.

The Bushey professional made his fifth birdie at the first and after following his only scoring blemish with a bogey five at the fourth, he picked up two more shots at the six and seventh to move into a tie for sixth place currently.
