The official who oversaw Watford’s 4-1 triumph over Chelsea in February will be in charge again on Saturday when the Hornets bid to defeat another of the ‘big six’ clubs.

Mike Dean has been appointed as the referee for the Hornets’ clash with Manchester United when Javi Gracia’s men will be aiming to continue their perfect start to the Premier League season with a fifth straight victory.

The Wirral-based official was in charge of just one Watford game last season, but it proved to be one of the highlights of the campaign as goals from Troy Deeney, Daryl Janmaat, Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra blew away the Blues, who had to play more than an hour with 10 men following Tiemoue Bakayoko’s first-half dismissal.

Dean has taken charge of two Premier League matches so far this season, showing six yellow cards and one red to Jamie Vardy in Leicester City’s 2-0 win against Wolves last month.
