Oxhey Jets shared the spoils with Wembley as they played out a 1-1 draw in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division on Saturday.

The clash proved to be a scrappy affair as both sides toiled to find any true level of fluidity throughout the encounter.

Wembley had the better of the game and Jets will therefore be happy to have taken a point.

Jets went behind in controversial fashion when a free-kick was awarded after Tom Gibson had been adjudged to have taken down a Wembley man despite appearing to have been fouled himself.

While the award of the set piece was disputed, there could be no argument as the Wembley man found the very top corner from range.

It took until the second half for Jets to pull level as they won a penalty which was dispatched with consummate ease by Nick Kerley.

Both sides then pushed for a winner, but neither were capable of doing so and were left to settle for a point.

Leverstock Green suffered a shock exit from the Challenge Trophy on Wednesday as they lost 2-1 to Unite MK.

Having beaten the League Two side 10-0 earlier in the season, Green would have been confident of progressing in the cup competition.

However, despite Sam Nair putting Green 1-0 up, they were eventually beaten as the underdogs hit back.

The midweek loss came on the back of a 1-1 league draw against Crawley Green on Saturday.

The game’s key moments came in the first period as both sides struck in the opening 24 minutes.

It was Crawley who took the lead when Phil Draycott, who had already troubled the Leverstock keeper, turned in from close range.

His 19th-minute opener only gave his side the lead for a brief spell thanks to Reynaldo Carbon, who reacted quickest to score after a ball broke loose.

After losing 1-0 at home to Hadley in their previous outing, Tring Athletic returned to winning ways with back-to-back successes against London Tigers and Rayners Lane.

Saturday saw Tring go to Tigers and ease to a commanding 4-0 win as Kieran Turner starred with a hat-trick.

His trio of strikes were added to by an effort from Kyle Johnson to complete the resounding victory.

Tring followed the league success up with a 2-0 win over Rayners Lane in the second round of the Challenge Trophy.

Rayners played some good football but were no match fro Tring as they secured the win with goals from Billie Busari and Jack Reed.
