Highgate Albion thirds moved to the top of the Barnet Sunday League Division 3 with a convincing 5-0 win away at AFC Oakwood.
The players from Highgate conducted a minute’s silence before the game and wore black armbands in memory of Calvin Bungisa, who was a recent knife crime victim and was well-known to some of the players.
The side made sure to put on a performance in his memory and they took an early lead through Paul Reid’s calm penalty after Tony Dowsett had been brought down in the area.
Alan Callahan then produced a stunning hat-trick to put Albion four goals up at the break, firstly heading in from Daniel Glaude’s flick, then finishing neatly from Glaude’s pass before finally capitalising on a defensive error for his third.
Oakwood woke up in the second half and looked far more solid, but the fifth goal arrived for Highgate when Callahan added his fourth of the day, finishing well from another high-quality assist that leaves Albion a point clear of Zenit St Whetstone Reserves in the league table.
