Watford Water Polo ladies finished third at the BWPL play-offs to qualify for Division Three for the 2019/20 season.

The ladies were one of six teams to contest the play-offs, three of whom were in Division Three last season but were having to re-qualify.

One of those teams was Cheltenham, but Watford bounced back from a nervy first half to win 6-3 before conceding with just 1.10 seconds remaining to lose 5-4 to Exeter.

A 3-1 win against Nova Centurion ended Saturday’s games and a 3-3 draw against Manchester Comets and 6-3 win against Sunderland ensured Watford’s qualification for the 2019/20 BWPL season.

The club also have three sides in National Age Group finals competition this weekend with both the Boys’ under-17s and under-19s in semi-finals and the Girls’ under-19s in plate competition.

Both boys’ teams will face City of Manchester in their tough games, while the girls’ side are in Group B of their plate competition along with Caledonia, Cheltenham and Tydesley.

Finally, five players from Watford under-19s have been selected for the Great Britain under-19 Men’s squad ahead of the European Championship qualifiers in May 2020.

Yalin Gulen, Petar Djordjic, Adam Page, Zac Corcoran and Matyas Molnar were all selected by head coach Dean Walker following two trials.
