Watford full-back Adam Masina is hoping for more game time in the forthcoming season.

The 25-year-old featured in the Hornets' 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday and afterwards told the club website he hopes to push to be more of a regular feature in the starting lineup.

After making 14 appearances in all competitions last season, the Italy Under-21 international is feeling positive about his chances, but knows he has some work to do first.

“I'm feeling better but I am not at the top yet,” he said.

“We all have a lot of work to do to make a better performance. We are working in the same way as last season pre-season but I am confident we can make a better season.

“My aim is to play more. The coach knows this and knows my opinion and I will do everything to play more.

"I played some games last season but this season I want to play more. Holebas is a very good player but this is my aim.”

Following the win over QPR, Masina spoke highly of the team's opponents and said the game had provided them with a good test ahead of the opening game of the Premier League.

The Hornets face Brighton and Hove Albion a week on Saturday in the first day of the English top flight.

“They are a very good team, they made a great performance against us and they can have a good season,” said Masina.

“It was a typical English game against English players and we needed this. It was great practise for us and will really help us be ready for the first match of the season.”
