Former Watford striker Stefano Okaka rejected a move to Besiktas so he could return 'home' to Italy and play for Udinese, his agent has claimed.
Okaka's representative, and brother, Carlo Okaka told Italian publication Tutto Mercato that the striker could have earned more money in Turkey, but that he simply wanted to return home.
"Okaka has refused 2.5 million euros a year to Besiktas," he said.
"There was an agreement with the club and Stefano. That was until the 31st, because there was various interest and options on the table. He took his time until the last minute.
“He said he wanted to go home and he didn’t care about money. The evaluation was made on the basis of how he felt in Udinese and he wanted to continue that positive streak. It is not an economic choice, but a choice of heart."
