Joao Pedro has posted an emotional and lengthy farewell to Fluminense as he prepares to head to Europe to start the next chapter in his career as a Watford player.

The Hornets confirmed in October that the Brazilian forward would complete his move to Vicarage Road in January after a work permit had been approved.

In translated comments on Instagram, Joao Pedro posted: “It’s time for farewell. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank fluminense football club immensely for having formed me as a man and as a professional athlete. It was in this club that I learned values such as discipline, resilience, friendship, fellowship. Things I will take into my life. I will never forget everything I had to overcome since when I arrived in xerem, when I had few opportunities to play for still being a boy too weak for my age. Just like I will never forget the fact that the club believed in me and gave me all the support for me to get to the professional. What an honour to be able to tell the world everything I am one of the #MiksDeXerem! today I leave the club to start my career in Europe. But the heart will always be tricolor. My tricolor love you! See you soon and greetings tricolour!"
