Watford’s appeal against Christian Kabasele’s sending off in the 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers has been unsuccessful, the club have confirmed.
The Hornets defender was sent off following a review by VAR Simon Hooper and his Stockley Park assistant for denying a goalscoring opportunity after pulling back substitute Diogo Jota in the second half.
On-pitch official Andrew Madley had initially only deemed the offence worthy of a yellow card.
Kabseele’s original two-match ban stands, meaning he will miss tomorrow’s FA Cup third round tie against Tranmere Rovers and next weekend’s Premier League trip to Bournemouth.
