Watford remain interested in signing Burnley defender Ben Gibson but face a race against time to get a deal done.

The Watford Observer understands there is an offer of a loan on the table, but the two sides have not yet been able to reach an agreement that suits both parties.

The Northern Echo are reporting that Burnley are willing to consider a loan deal, but they're wanting an agreement in place that could result in a permanent transfer in the summer - something that appears to be a sticking point for Watford at the moment.

Nevertheless, it seems the Hornets are hoping to tie this one up before the window closes this evening, so there may be some compromise from either side ahead of the 11pm deadline.

An earlier loan offer was rebuffed by Burnley, but this latest development shows that Gibson is a player Watford believe can strengthen their squad.
